Title of Next Spider-Man Film Revealed: "The Amazing Spider-Man"

(CBS) More details about the upcoming Spider-Man reboot have been unmasked.

Columbia Pictures confirmed Monday that the title of the film will be..."The Amazing Spider-Man."

The film is being directed by Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer") and stars Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network") as the new Peter Parker,

This title is the same as that of the 1960s-era comics, and will further distance the reboot from the previous Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire series of films.

Another distinction from the Raimi-era can be found in the new promotional art for "The Amazing Spider-Man." In the recently-released poster, the titular superhero is depicted with synthetic web-slingers, as opposed to the organic slingers conceived for the Raimi films.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is currently being filmed in 3-D and will co-star "Easy A" actress Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy. The release date is set for July 3, 2012.
