Tight Contests For Democrats In Texas, Ohio
Yesterday, Bill Clinton admitted that the voting contests on March 4th could make or break his wife's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
"This whole nominating process has come down to Texas and Ohio," Clinton said.
A new poll out from the Washington Post and ABC News suggests that both races remain close, particularly the one in Texas. Clinton leads by just one point in the state, 48 percent to 47 percent. In Ohio, the former first lady leads Barack Obama by seven points, 50 to 43. (The margin of error in both surveys is plus or minus four percentage points.)
Obama, who has won ten straight primaries, could deal a fatal blow to Clinton's campaign if he were to win in both delegate-rich states. The latest CBS News delegate count shows Obama leading Clinton by 100 delegates, 1362 to 1262, with 2,025 delegates necessary to secure the nomination. Texas holds 193 delegates while Ohio holds 141.
