Tiffany Hartley Questioned Another Eight Hours
Tiffany Hartley says she's told Mexican law enforcement officials everything about the day her husband David was shot and killed. She now hopes that information will help them find his body.
After a second marathon day of questioning by Mexican officials, Tiffany Hartley emerged last night, saying more than 16 hours of re-living the murder of her husband had left her emotionally exhausted.
Tiffany said, "Of course hearing it over and over and then reliving it over and over, it's very emotional. I've cried several times."
CBS News correspondent Don Teague reported from McAllen, Texas that David Hartley was shot and killed September 30 while the couple jet skied on the Mexican side of Falcon Lake, allegedly by members of Mexico's Zeta drug cartel.
Mexican authorities suspended the search for Hartley's body last week after the lead investigator in the case was himself murdered. The lengthy interviews have drawn criticism from the Texas sheriff also investigating the case.
Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, of Texas' Zapata County, said, "I think what they're really trying to do is trying to discourage her from filing the complaint."
But Hartley believes Mexican authorities are trying to help her. She's even been questioned -- without an attorney.
Tiffany said, "I have nothing to hide. I have absolutely nothing to hide."
Tiffany Hartley plans to move back to Colorado in the near future, but says she can't go just yet.
Tiffany said, "I'm the one that's holding everybody back. I'm holding the move back; it's me."
For now, she says she needs to stay in Texas and fight to bring her husband's body home.
Tiffany told reporters, "David's giving me the strength to fight for him. I know in my heart, if it was switched, he would be standing here in front of all of you doing the same exact thing for me."
Mexican officials have not said when they'll resume their search for David Hartley's body. But, Teague added on "The Early Show," Tiffany Hartley remains hopeful.
