The curtain is going up on the new theater season on stages far from Broadway. Below is a list of shows starting up across the United States:
"The Bluest Eye" returns to Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater on October 6th after breaking attendance records last year. It's a coming-of-age story based on a novel by Toni Morrison. "The Real Thing" by Tom Stoppard is already on view at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, a wry commentary on love and marriage. The National Tour of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize winning drama "Doubt" opens Friday at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, with Tony-Award winner Cherry Jones in the starring role. "My Fair Lady" winds up a run at the Actors Theater in Louisville next weekend, before moving on to the Cleveland Play House on October 6th. And, from screen-to-stage, an adaptation of the 1983 film "Terms of Endearment" has its world premier next spring at Houston's Alley Theater.
