"The X Factor" sends two more hopefuls home

"The X Factor" sent two more contestants home on Thursday, narrowing the field down to just eight singing hopefuls.

Two young contenders got the boot in the latest double elimination round: Arin Ray, 17, and Beatrice Miller, 13.

Ray was the first to go, as he had the fewest votes.

When co-host Khloe Kardashian asked Ray's coach, Britney Spears, if she had any parting words, the pop star said, "You know, I think you should just take this as a learning experience, and I think this isn't the last people will hear from you."

The next lowest-ranked contestants were Miller and CeCe Frey. They ended up battling it out for one last chance by performing a "song for survival."

Frey sang Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You," and Miller attempted Dido's "White Flag." Judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Spears chimed in on the contestants' performances, but in the end, Miller couldn't muster up enough support.

"I'm sorry," Reid said, as Miller tried to fight back tears during the live Thanksgiving night show.

The evening also featured a performance by Cher Lloyd, winner of the the U.K.'s "X Factor."
