NEW YORK (CBS) A new legal drama has been thrown into the mix of ABC's new Fall TV lineup.

"The Whole Truth," which premiered Wednesday, stars Rob Morrow ("Numb3rs") and Maura Tierney ("ER") as lawyers who are on opposite sides of every case.

Tierney, who took a break from the small screen after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009,  plays tough prosecutor Kathryn Peale. Each week, she  squares off  against her Yale Law School colleague, Jimmy Brogan, who is also one of New York's rising criminal defense attorneys. To add a little flair, a potential romance between Kathryn and Jimmy is in the air.

In the pilot episode, a murder case involving a married teacher accused of killing a female student is presented. With two sparring lawyers, "Truth" closely examines both sides of the case,  providing  an interesting, up-close look at the legal process.  This is may be the show's attempt to break free from the typical legal drama formula.

The drama, set in New York but filmed in Los Angeles, also stars Eamonn Walker, Sean Wing, Anthony Ruiviar and Christine Adams.
