"The Voice": Team Shakira and Team Blake take on the playoffs

The live playoffs continued on "The Voice" Tuesday, with Shakira and Blake Shelton's teams taking the stage to perform (Team Adam and Team Usher went on Monday).

Two acts from each team will advance to the Top 12 based on viewers' votes, and the coaches will all get to save an additional competitor.

Here's how they fared:

Team Shakira:

Garrett Gardner sat at a piano for his rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine," giving the iconic tune some of his signature rasp. Adam Levine admitted it's hard hearing anyone cover the track, but Shakira gives him high praise: "I think you are the epitome of what this show is about and what America is about."

Kris Thomas sang Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," starting off stiff but eventually making the song his own with his runs and falsetto voice. "I did kind of feel like you were so nervous. I felt the tension a little bit," Levine told him.

Karina Iglesias' performance of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" impressed the judges. Shelton said he thought her microphone "was going to break into a thousand pieces." Shakira raved, "You gave me everything. You have a pair of lungs that...wow...my God."

Sasha Allen takes on the Beatles' "Oh! Darling." Usher tells her she's an "incredible vocalist," while Shelton added, "Everybody who just saw that fell in love with you."

Team Blake:

Holly Williams took on LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live," and wowed the judges. Shakira calls it "so beautiful" and Levine added: "You are better looking and more talented than Blake is. You are amazing, and I love you and you're super talented."

Next up was the Swon Brothers, who sang "Fishin' in the Dark" by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. "I'm not familiar with that song," Usher tells them, "but it was a lot of fun."

Justin Rivers does a rendition of Diamond Ro's "Meet in the Middle" that goes over well with the judges. "You're going to be one of those dark horses that people didn't see coming," Shelton tells him. "That was an incredible country moment and I was happy to be a part of it," Usher added.

Danielle Bradbury's performance Pam Tillis' "Maybe it was Memphis" also received rave reviews. "In the wise words of my friend Blake Shelton I have just one thing to say: 'holy crap,'" Shakira said. "You brought the song to a new generation," Shelton added. "Danielle is one of the most important artists who's ever been on 'The Voice.'"
