"The Voice" playoffs: Team Christina and Team Cee Lo take their turn
Playoffs are in full force on NBC's "The Voice" and after contestants on Team Adam and Team Blake sang for America's vote and a spot in the Top 12, it was time for Team Christina and Team Cee Lo to give it a shot on Wednesday night.
Team Christina
Adriana Louise kicked off the performances for the night singing Katy Perry's "Firework." The coaches commended her for tackling a difficult song, and Cee Lo Green said she's a "beautiful person" with a "beautiful voice."
De'Borah performed Pink's "Who Knew" and the coaches praised her performance. Her own coach Christina Aguilera said she "commands the stage" unlike any other contestant.
Devyn DeLoera sang Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" and Aguilera said she loved her ending high note, but Green said he thinks she's better than the performance lets on.
Sylvia Yacoub sang Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" and blew away the coaches. Levine said she "definitely deserves" to move on, and Aguilera raved about her contestant saying they "connect on an emotional and vocal level," a comment that brought Yacoub to tears.
Dez Duron, the last member of Team Christina to perform, sang country singer Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" after Aguilera said she wanted him to step outside of his comfort zone. After his performance, she said he "nailed it." Coach Blake Shelton joked that he was mad Duron sang a country song after choosing Aguilera over him as a coach.
Team Cee Lo
Cody Belew kicked off things for Team Cee Lo singing George Michael's "One More Try." The coaches loved it. Levine calls Green's choice of song for Belew "genius."
Spanish-born Diego Val sang Enrique Iglesias' "Bailamos," but to Green's disappointment Val's performance fell a little flat. Green apologizes for the song choice.
Mackenzie Bourg sang One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful." Aguilera called Bourg "a charmer," but she wants to see him do something a little different and Green said he wants to see more energy from Bourg.
Nicholas David sang Barry White's "You are The First, The Last, My Everything" and wins over the coaches. Levine told David he is a "huge fan" and joked that "he wants to make a baby now." Shelton called David his "favorite singer."
Trevyn Hunte sang Michael Bolton's "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" and Shelton praised the teenager saying that he really moved him. Aguilera agreed, calling him "truly special." Green said "I'm speechless, you did such a wonderful job."
