The music-comedy event will be held March 4, 2012, at New York's Radio City Music Hall. It raises funds for the human rights organization Amnesty International, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The ball first took place in 1976 as a way to celebrate freedom of expression through the arts and entertainment industry. London hosted the last Secret Policeman's Ball in 2008.

More acts will be announced soon. Tickets go on sale on Monday.
