The Perfect Party Wardrobe

We all want to look our best at holiday parties and get-togethers, but then comes the big question - what to wear?

On The Saturday Early Show, Dawn Yanek, editor at large of Life&Style Weekly magazine ( took the guesswork out of the equation for four holiday occasions: an office party, a family get-together, a cocktail party, and a black tie affair.

She points out that different occasions call for different outfits. You need to look appropriate for the type of parties you're going to. You don't want to be over-dressed; you want to be festive, but appropriate.

Almost every piece Yanek spotlighted goes for less than $100. So, you don't need to spend a lot of money to look like a million bucks!

When you're at a family gathering, you should stay stylish, but comfortable. You want to be cozy; you can relax on the couch, or in front of a fireplace, so a turtle neck sweater. It enables you to play with the kids on the couch, and still be comfortable. Yanek added flats and leggings. It grounds the look; it's not too over the top You can put on a pair of hills and turn it into a dinner date outfit. Yanek says she really loves the sweater dress, which is really "in" this winter. This sweater is shiny, so it's festive, yet really fashionable.

Pants are always great to accessorize. Yanek chose the perfect outfit for an office party. What happens very often is that you have to be in the office all day, and then you don't have the time to change to go to a party. So, what you can do is wear the little cami, which Yanek loves, and put it under a sweater, or let it show a little bit by covering it with a classic jacket. But then, when you go out to the party, you can transition to a more sexy, yet appropriate look. You can cover the cami with the shinny jacket or, depending on your office party, you can take it off. Yanek paired it off with great accessories, specifically, great shoes. The shoes are very festive, and very flattering, and very cheap: Hollywould for Target Lauren Glitter Lace pumps cost less than $30. You can't go wrong with those. And of course, you want to pair that with fun bracelets and necklaces.

It drapes very nicely around your body. The pumps Yanek picked are great; they're Jessica Simpson, and have a little bow. They're really fun. She also chose some festive, but simple jewelry, because of the bold color of the dress.

Yanek picked a coat to put on top of a dress because you always need to have a nice coat, and not wear your bulky coat when you go out. You want to be stylish; Yanek's choice has metallic threat and is only $130. It's well-worth spending that money on a coat you'll use over and over again when you go out, so you're warm, but also sexy. Yanek opted for a sequin dress because it's out there; it's a little flashier than the other outfits, but you need to be a little bolder with it than the other party styles. The dress is very glamour, glitzy. It's very tasteful. Yanek paired it with gold shoes; it's fun, and the advantage of gold shoes is that they make your legs look like they go on forever. The cute sequin dress is from The Limited; if need be, you could wear something shorter.
