The Five Best iPhone Apps for Road Warriors

If you spend more time in cabs, coach seats, and hotels than you do sitting at a desk, you're a road warrior. And what's a warrior without weapons? If you have an iPhone, you're already pretty well equipped, what with Google Maps, Safari, and the like.

But if you really want to improve life on the road, snap up these five apps. (Note: All links go to iTunes.)

  • Evernote Text notes. Photo notes. Voice notes. The Evernote app for iPhone lets you capture information in any form you want, then syncs it back to your Web and/or desktop accounts--complete with location-specific geotags. Of course, you can access existing Evernote data as well. Business Hacks users have long professed their love for Evernote, and the iPhone app makes it even better.
  • iHound The only thing worse than a dropped or broken iPhone is a lost or stolen iPhone. iHound can help you recover yours by way of a Web-based mapping tool and your iPhone's Wi-Fi and GPS location services. It's not foolproof, but 4 bucks is a small price to pay to protect a $200+ investment.
  • Jaadu Remote Desktop IT managers and other admin types frequently need remote access to office PCs. Jaadu lets you access and control any system running XP Pro, Vista Business/Ultimate, or Windows Server 2003/2008. At $25, it's pricey for an iPhone app, but indispensable when the boss needs you to fix his/her machine now and you're about to board a flight.
  • Take Me To My Car True to its name, this simple app helps you find your vehicle. Just tap once to set your position, then fire up the app later when you realize you've lost your car in the airport lot or can't remember what the rental even looks like.
  • Trips Traveling involves lots of information: flight numbers, hotel reservations, meeting schedules, and so on. Trips helps you manage all this data under one roof. Best of all, it includes real-time flight information, like status, delays, and gate numbers. Well worth the $7 price tag.
What do you think, road warriors? Are these apps as killer as we think they are, or did we leave out some obvious choices? Hit the Comments and tell us which apps make your travels easier and more productive.
