The Citadel accused of being "grossly negligent" in handling of sex abuse complaint
(CBS/AP) CHARLESTON, S.C. - A lawsuit against The Citadel charges the South Carolina military college was "grossly negligent" in its handling of a sex abuse complaint four years ago.
The suit was filed Wednesday in Charleston by attorneys representing the mother of a boy who said he was molested by his counselor Louis ReVille during his summer camp stay at The Citadel nine years ago.
The college received a complaint in 2007 from a camper who said he had been sexually abused at the camp. The Citadel conducted an internal investigation, but did not go to police.
ReVille is now charged with nine counts of molesting boys in the Charleston area.
He was arrested on Oct. 28 and reportedly confessed to police that he sexually assaulted five teenage boys that he coached.
A spokesman from the military college said The Citadel does not comment on pending litigation.
