The CBS NEWS/TIME 100

It's millennium madness! Even if you've already made reservations for New Year's 1999, before you plunge into the future take a moment to reflect on a century that fueled more social, political and cultural change than, perhaps, any other era.

CBS News and Time Magazine are joining forces to profile 100 people - legendary leaders and scientists,
timeless artists and entertainers, and unwavering heroes - who have shaped the mind and soul of our collective past.

As we move toward the millennium, CBS and Time will dedicate a series of broadcast specials and magazine issues to each category of nominees from which the Person of the Century will be chosen. Be sure to tune in June 4 at 10PM ET/PT (check local listings) for a profile of the legendary artists and entertainers of the century. From Brando to Sinatra, Lucy to Chanel, these candid interviews reveal why their talent and charisma will leave an indelible mark on this century.

Preview the broadcast to discover the artists and entertainers who have colored the century with art and song and drama throughout dramatically changing times. In times of war and cultural unrest, they have captured our tirades and tears, providing anthems of hope to generations. In times of peace, they have inspired us, and touched the spirit of an audience of nations. And, cast your vote for Person of the Century.

This is the second in the series of special CBS News and Time broadcasts; the first, on the century's leaders and revolutionares, aired last April.
