The Best and Safest Web Sites for Kids

The Internet watch group Cyberangels has honored four web sites for children as being the Cyberangels Kids Best of the Web....

"And it's a really hard award for these sites to be able to earn. The kids themselves, that I speak to around the country and our Cyberangels kids, who are between 7 and 13 years old, have nominated their favorite sites."

Well known attorney and Cyberangels exeuctive director Parry Aftab. The sites were narrowed down by a specially trained group of Cybermoms and Aftab, who looked at content, safety, as well as privacy and advertising practices. Only four were left standing...

"So the Cyberangels Kids Best of the Web award goes to FreeZone, which is Curiocity's own site that has probably the safest chat on the Internet. So it's freezone.com. It goes to Sports Illustrated for Kids which is sikids.com. There's bonus.com, which has a whole bunch of different information about kids and they're going to be expanding shortly we suspect. And then, Nickelodeon's site, which is always on the kids' favorite site list."

The Cyberangels group at cyberangels.org has about six hundred volunteers who give their time each week to try to make the Internet a safer place for everyone. The executive director is also the author of A Parent's Guide to the Internet.
