"The Avengers": New trailer debuts online

(CBS) It's a good week for fans of "The Avengers" - a new poster came out on Tuesday, and now a brand new trailer for the movie has been released.

The clip, which debuted online Wednesday afternoon, shows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. bringing the Marvel heroes together to form the eponymous super-group.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) are all seen in the trailer, which clocks in and just under two-and-a-half minutes. But while they must band together to save the world, there also seems to be plenty of tension within the group itself.

The film, written and directed by Joss Whedon, hits theaters on May 4. Watch the trailer below:
