THALIA ASSURAS

Co-anchor, Saturday Early Show

Anchor, CBS Evening News, Saturday Edition

Thalia Assuras is co-anchor of The Saturday Early Show. She also is anchor of the CBS Evening News, Saturday Edition, alternating with Russ Mitchell.

Assuras has been a CBS News correspondent since February 1997, reporting for a variety of broadcasts including the CBS Evening News.

She served as substitute anchor of Morning News and This Morning before being named co-anchor of both programs in September 1998.

Previously, Assuras was co-anchor of Off Tenth, the live daily program about people in the day's news which aired on the CBS cable channel Eye On People in 1997.

She joined CBS News from ABC, where she was an anchor for World News Now and World News This Morning (1993-96) and served as a general assignment correspondent.

Previously, Assuras anchored Canada AM, CTVs morning news broadcast, co-anchored Canada AM Weekend, and substitute-anchored the ACTV Weekend News (1992-93). She also served as a field reporter.

Assuras was born in London, Ontario, Canada. She graduated with honors from the University of Western Ontario with a bachelor of science degree in microbiology and immunology. She later earned a master's degree in journalism.
