Texas woman convicted of murder stabbed man 130 times

DALLAS - A North Texas jury has found a woman guilty of murder for stabbing a man 130 times before castrating him in a Dallas hotel room.

Cristal Paulette Richardson, 29, had insisted that she was defending herself after being sexually assaulted when she killed 34-year-old Cedric Lamont Owens in April 2012.

Authorities say they found Owens' bloody and naked body in the hotel room. Besides the stab wounds and castration, his throat had been cut. Police found Richardson sitting outside in a stairwell, naked and covered in blood.

A Dallas County jury deliberated almost two hours before finding Richardson guilty of murder on Monday. The penalty phase of the trial was scheduled to start Tuesday. She faces up to life in prison.
