Texas 15-year-old charged with killing mother of five found in hotel
(CBS/KHOU) SEALY, Texas - A Texas teenager has been charged with murdering a 30-year-old mother of five who was found dead in a hotel last week.
The body of 30-year-old Lisa Camille Land was found on Friday at a Best Budget Inn in Sealy, about 50 miles west of Houston, where she had been staying, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.
According to station KTRK, police say Land appeared to have been beaten.
The 15-year-old suspect, whose name is not being released because of his age, had just moved to Sealy from East Bernard and was living at the same motel, KHOU reports.
He was reportedly taken into custody Monday night after an investigation by Sealy police and Texas Rangers.
The manager of the motel, Lawrence Garbs, says he arrived at Land's room to collect rent on Friday and saw a man quickly pull back the blinds, reports KHOU. No one answered the door, so he left. When he returned a few minutes later, the door was cracked and he saw Land's body.
"She's laying on the ground and not moving at all," Garbs reportedly said.
The suspect is being held at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Facility, according to KHOU.
