(CBS/KOTV) MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A Muskogee, Okla. teenager accused of stabbing a four-year-old to death with scissors last year pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Aaron Laconsello, 19, pleaded guilty to first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and first degree burglary only minutes before his preliminary hearing was scheduled to begin, reports CBS affiliate KOTV.

The 19-year-old admitted to breaking into the Lane house on the night of Nov. 9, 2010 and stabbing the boy with a pair of scissors 36 times, say police, KOTV reports. Laconsello also assaulted the boy's mother Stephanie Lane, who was eight months pregnant, when she tried to fend him off, according to the station.

Lane said she didn't know Laconsello, who reportedly worked in the cafeteria at Sadler Arts Academy in Muskogee, reports the station.

Instead of the death penalty, the victim's family reportedly requested that Laconsello's sentence be life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to KOTV, when the judge asked Laconsello why he killed the child, he replied "I don't know."
