Teen held in parents' murder allegedly confessed to sister
FRISCO, Texas - A 16-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his parents in their suburban Dallas home allegedly told his sister that he committed the crime, reports CBS DFW.
The bodies of 48-year-old Ryan Callens and 49-year-old Maria Elena Callens of Frisco, Texas, were discovered before dawn Monday when police responded to a 911 call about shots fired. Police recovered a rifle with a flashlight taped to it.
The victims' teenage son appeared in court Tuesday. He's charged as a juvenile with murder. A judge ordered him held pending another hearing in about two weeks.
According to testimony at Tuesday's hearing, police found the teen and his older sister outside the home. She was visibly upset.
CBS DFW reported that a Frisco police officer is said to have overheard the suspect's sister ask, "What do you mean you did it?" According to the testimony, the accused teen responded, "I did it."
Investigators have not released a motive for the slayings.
Neighbors told the station that the accused teen had been home-schooled for much of his life.
