Teacher Naomi Perez Pleads Guilty to Sex with 17-Year-Old Student
SANTA ANA, Calif. (CBS/AP) Former Orange County high school teacher Naomi Perez has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student and vandalizing his car.
PICTURES: Notorious Teacher Sex ScandalsThe 33-year-old pleaded guilty to three sex-related felonies, including unlawful sexual intercourse, an Orange County District Attorney's spokeswoman said.
Perez has also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vandalism charges for allegedly scratching and denting the student's car, reports CBS affiliate KCAL.
The relationship between the teacher and the student began at Saddleback High School, but it is unclear whether or not the student, now 18, was in her class, says KCAL.
Perez, who was fired Oct. 13, admits that she and the Saddleback student had sex from June 2007 until September of the same year while he was a student there.
However, it wasn't until the student reported the vandalism to his car on Aug. 26 that investigators learned of the alleged relationship between the teacher and the teenager.
According to KTTV, Perez was sentenced to 150 days in jail and five years of formal probation.
