Taylor Swift: I have no female role models in music

Taylor Swift is a role model to so many of her fans, but when it comes to her own, she isn't finding them in her own field. Blame it on the rumored feuds and the competition, but Swift is picky about her role models.

In an interview with Time magazine, Swift, 24, says, "We're taught to find examples for the way we want our lives to wind up. But I can't find anyone, really, who's had the same career trajectory as mine."

Her recent 1989 album release sold 1.28 million copies in its first week, and she is one of the most buzzed about artists. She has been gracing just about every magazine cover from Rolling Stone to Wonderland was recently named one of Barbara Walter's Most Fascinating people of 2014. It's no wonder she has a hard time finding someone who has had a similar path.

So who does the meg-star look up to when she herself has achieved so much?

She says, "I do have female role models in the sense of actresses like Mariska Hargitay. I think she has a beautiful life, and an incredible career, and I think she's built that for herself."

Swift likes Mariska so much that she even named her cat the same name as her character, Olivia Benson, on "Law & Order: SVU."

Another role model to make her list is Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa from Food Network.

She "really loves her business" and "how she sticks to who she is, and how people relate to it."

Swift's role models are career-minded just like herself, but she isn't looking at fellow female musicians for a reason.

She explains, "I just struggle to find a woman in music who hasn't been completely picked apart by the media, or scrutinized and criticized for aging, or criticized for fighting aging--it just seems to be much more difficult to be a woman in music and to grow older."
