Tasered Granny Suing Police
Beverly Kidwell, 68, is suing the town of Franklin, Ohio, and its police department, after she was tasered inside the police station.
The incident, which was caught on
, happened in April 2004 when Kidwell came to the police station to check on her granddaughter, who was there to accuse her of domestic violence.In the video, Lieutenant Wayne Bowling is seen trying to handcuff Kidwell. When she allegedly refused to obey, she was tasered repeatedly.
After the incident, Kidwell was hospitalized and charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest. She pled no contest in court.
Kidwell is suing in federal court, calling Lt. Bowling's actions "reckless" and "outrageous."
Attorneys for the town and its police department say the officer acted properly and that the incident was justified.
