Take Simple Notes on the Web or Your Phone Using Piconote
I'm always on the lookout for the simplest possible way to take notes while I'm on the go. As I mentioned when I told you about Doris, Web apps like Remember the Milk are just too complex to make me happy -- they frustrate rather than simplify the job of recording a quick reminder. Piconote, on the other hand, is a free note-taking tool that's all about simplicity and convenience.
Piconote comes in three flavors: a Web app, a Windows program, and a mobile Web app you can access from your phone. All three are free. There's no registration required; just enter a username and password and you are in. Notes you create in one version of Piconote are visible in the others, so you can tap out a quick note on your phone and see it on the Web app when you get back to the office.
You can create any number of notes, but don't expect any fancy formatting options. URLs automatically become hyperlinks, and you can designate notes as public or private.
The site also promises the ability to add notes via Twitter, but that feature has been broken for at least a week, with little more than a Tweet that says they have no idea why it isn't working at the moment. I'd complain, but, well, it's free. [Via Download Squad]
