Suspect identified in missing Mass. cows case, police say

(CBS/AP) DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Police said they've located the rest of the 49 dairy cows that went missing from a southeastern Massachusetts farm over the weekend. They also identified a suspect and a motive behind the cattle's disappearance.

The cows that disappeared from a Dartmouth, Mass. farm Saturday night were worth about $50,000.  The owner, Ahmed Mahoud, acting on a tip, located 39 of them at a cattle auction hundreds of miles away in New Holland, Pa. on Sunday. The other 10 were found about 40 miles away in Medway.

Chief Timothy Lee said Mahoud and the person suspected of taking the cows know each other and the disappearance apparently stemmed from a financial dispute between them. He said there was never an agreement to take the cows.

Chief Lee did not disclose the person's name, saying the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
