Susan Lucci reveals all in new memoir
(CBS) Susan Lucci is best known for playing her iconic character, Erica Kane, on the daytime soap opera "All My Children." Now the actress is stepping into a new role - as an author - with a new memoir.
"All My Life" was released on Tuesday. In the memoir, Lucci goes into detail about her long career - including finally winning a Daytime Emmy Award in 1999, after being passed over 18 times.
The memoir also discusses the soap star's personal life, including a car accident that threatened to put an end to her career and her eyesight, the death of her grandmother and her newborn son's life-threatening illness, according to a release from publisher HarperCollins.
Lucci, 64, called the book "a labor of love," adding, "I'm looking forward to hearing the response. I've kept my private life to myself, yet I know there are things in my life that people will identify with, so I'm anxious to hear."
