Sunni Lawmaker Gunned Down In Baghdad

Iraqi officials say a senior Sunni lawmaker has been shot dead outside a mosque after prayers in western Baghdad.

A spokesman for the lawmaker's bloc says Harith al-Obeidi was killed Friday by gunmen as he left the weekly service at the al-Shawaf mosque.

The mosque is located in the former insurgent stronghold of Yarmouk in the Iraqi capital.

Salim Abdullah, a spokesman for the Iraqi Accordance Front, says al-Obeidi was the head of the group in parliament.
