Store Passwords on Your Palm OS Device with Cryptex

cryptex.jpgA PDA or smartphone can be a great place to store PINs, passwords, Social Security numbers, and other critical information -- provided you don't store everything in a memo or some other easily discovered location. (I know far too many people who do this. What happens if someone steals your handheld? You're screwed, that's what!) Cryptex provides a simple, password-protected database for all your important info. It's a free program for Palm OS devices, including Centro and Treo smartphones. (Owners of Windows Mobile handhelds and phones may want to check out eWallet, which sells for a reasonable $19.95.)

Cryptex lets you create templates, assign passwords to specific categories, choose unique icons for each entry, and even export entries to the memo pad. An RC4 algorithm keeps all your data encrypted, meaning if your device gets lost or stolen, it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to access it. [via PalmInfocenter]
