Stephanie Jo Walters (PICTURE): Teacher Who Sexted, Kissed 14-Year-Old Sentenced

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (CBS/AP) Stephanie Jo Walters, a former Berkeley County school teacher, has been sentenced on a sexual abuse charge involving a 14-year-old student.

The 28-year-old mother was accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to the male student and kissing him in a janitor's closet during school hours at Musselman Middle School.

The student also received messages from Walters on his MySpace page, according to records obtained by the Martinsburg Journal.

Circuit Court Judge Gina Groh sentenced Walters on Monday to three months in jail and five years of supervised probation.

The former Hedgesville resident had pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of sexual abuse.

The Berkeley County Board of Education fired Walters after she was arrested on May 1, 2009.

She currently lives in Ohio.
