Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick began opening statements just after 9 a.m. telling the jurors that evidence pointed to the 25-year-old defendant as the murderer of Caylee Anthony, who was gone for a month before her grandmother alerted police she was missing, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

"It is time to tell the story of a little girl - Caylee Anthony," Burdick said.

Burdick offered a timeline of Anthony's whereabouts based on cell phone records. The timeline stretched from the time Caylee was last seen by her grandparents on Father's Day June 15, 2008, until her remains were discovered by a meter reader in the woods near her home in December 2008. Jurors were shown images on a screen of a photo of Caylee taken on Father's Day alongside an image of the little girl's skeletal remains.

Burdick asked jurors, between descriptions of how Anthony spent her days shopping, visiting friends and hanging out with her boyfriend with no signs of her daughter, "Where is Caylee Marie Anthony?"

After an hour and a half, Judge Belvin Perry called for a 15 minute recess.

Burdick then resumed with details about evidence found in the trunk of Anthony's car and the scene where Caylee's remains were found in December 2008.

Anthony shook her head as Burdick said Anthony intentionally killed Caylee during the conclusion of her opening statement, reports the station.

"Caylee Marie Anthony was not kidnapped. No one else benefited from the death of Caylee Marie Anthony. Caylee's death allowed Casey Anthony to live the good life, and the end of this case you will have no problem deciding that Casey Anthony killed her daughter. Casey Anthony is guilty of murder in the first degree," Burdick said in conclusion according to WKMG.

Burdick concluded her opening statement at 11:40 a.m. and the court was recessed for lunch until 1:10 p.m.

The Casey Anthony case was recently reported on by "48 Hours Mystery."
