Stars React To Their Emmy Nod
Very early in the morning on Thursday, a select group of talented people learned that their career would be forever changed with an Emmy nomination. Here, reaction from some of the people whose names were on that coveted list.
"I'm thrilled because my nomination really represents the entire 'Brothers & Sisters' family. I couldn't do the work without the incredible actors I stand across from or the brilliant writing and directing I've been given. I really am having the time of my life," Sally Field said in a statement. She was nominated for her role as Nora Walker in the ABC drama "Brothers & Sisters."
"Anybody who says it's not nice or it doesn't mean anything to get this many nominations, it's the ultimate sour grapes because it sure feels great," said Dick Wolf, producer of "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," which received a leading 17 nominations.
"What can I say? They're too kind. We were on so long ago, we were on last June, so I've been surprised and very pleased that people remember," said Walter Hill, director of the miniseries "Broken Trail," which received 16 nominations.
"I didn't actually sleep too well last night. I won last year and was sort of anticipating it, but you're never sure. I have to leave in about 20 minutes to do a 'Boston Legal' scene with James Spader, who is also nominated (as best actor in a drama series). It is the best possible way to go to work," said actor Christian Clemenson, nominated for best actor in a drama series for "Boston Legal." He won the Emmy for the same series and category last year.
"It is a really special day when so many of your cohorts receive a nomination that the idea of carpooling now becomes unrealistic. I tip my hat to our brilliant cast, crew and writers," said Charlie Sheen, who was nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series for "Two And A Half Men." Sheen, who chose not to watch, was informed by voicemail messages from close friends and well-wishers around 7 a.m.
"My dog started barking around 6:10 and I looked at my BlackBerry and I had a text message from Liz Stanton, the executive producer of the show. She said, 'Get your a-- up,' said Wanda Sykes on how she learned she'd been nominated for an Emmy for her HBO comedy special, "Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired."
"Last year I was totally overwhelmed. I was in my underwear on the sofa at home," said Jon Cryer, noting he reacted more calmly to his nomination this year as supporting actor in a comedy series for "Two and a Half Men."
