Celebrities reacted with shock and sadness Sunday to news of the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. Some issued statements, while others took to Twitter to express their grief.

 

"No words for this.  He was too great and we're too shattered," said Mike Nichols, who directed Hoffman in "Charlie Wilson's War" and in "Death of a Salesman."
