(CBS/WCBS/AP) NEW YORK - Brooklyn jazz musician Stanley Wright, who'd been missing since last Thursday, was found dead in a storage trunk in his basement, authorities said.

Police found the musician's body upon searching his house shortly after he was reported missing by his son early Tuesday morning.

Sources say authorities found signs of a struggle in his basement, reports CBS station WCBS. Stanley Wright's sister, Teresa Wright, told the station that she thinks the killer "knew him very well."

Searching police found the door unlocked and the home in disarray, reports the New York Daily News. Wright's car was also reportedly missing.

The 62-year-old widower lived alone and was a father of three, including "Blade" actress N'Bushe Wright. Stanley Wright once taught music at a Brooklyn middle school and performed at Lincoln Center. He played the bass, piano and drums, gave lessons and played in clubs across New York.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.
