Staffers fired for drinking, insulting lawmaker
U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen has fired three staffers who apparently chronicled their on-the-job drinking exploits, including taking shots of Jack Daniels at their desks, via Twitter.
"We became aware of the issue through a tweet referencing an article about the incident. Congressman Larsen immediately decided to fire the three staff members involved in the incident," Larsen spokesman Bryan Thomas said, according to The Hill.
A statement from his office says Larsen is disappointed and wants to make clear such behavior will not be tolerated.
The three -- legislative assistants Seth Burroughs and Elizabeth Robbee and legislative correspondent Ben Byers -- worked in Larsen's Washington D.C. office.
The Northwest Daily Marker, a conservative political blog, first posted the string of tweets.
The tweets include references to the staffers' "idiot boss" as well as comments about drinking on the job and of showing up drink to work.
