Spend Less Time in Security at the Airport
You know the worst part of waiting in long lines at the airport? That's right -- everything. George Clooney has no idea what he's talking about; every moment spent at the airport kills your soul just a little more.
You remember the awesome travel site Hipmunk, right? Well, Hipmunk's blog has a few tips for minimizing the time you waste at the airport.
1. Book travel at historical short waiting times. Though the TSA no longer publishes airport security wait times, you can find that information elsewhere. If you can book travel accordingly, you might save yourself some time.
2. Be prepared. George Clooney got one thing right: He was utterly prepared for security with his boarding pass and ID card accessible. He didn't travel with liquids in excess of 3 ounces. He loosened his belt and shoes for easy doffing. And he removed his laptop from the case without being prompted.
3. Be a frequent flyer. Being a frequent flyer has its privileges -- chief among them, "elite" security processing at many airports. If you don't fly somewhere weekly, you stand a better chance of getting frequent flyer status by consolidating all your travel with a single airline.
4. Choose your line wisely. You don't have to get in the closest line. You might not be aware that multiple lines all tend to go to the same place, so you can scope out the lines to avoid families and noobes, to be sure, but also seek out alternative lines which are further away if the lines you see are incredibly long. Indeed, at some airports, you can go through security in one terminal and then move freely to any other terminal without passing back through security again.
