(CBS/AP) LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Two New Mexico men are facing charges after authorities say they tried to steal a "spaceship" piece of an amusement park ride from a neighbor's yard.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that a Dona Ana County grand jury indicted Thursday 22-year-old Arturo Evan Cadena and 47-year-old Richard Chavez on charges of conspiracy, felony larceny and criminal trespassing.

According to court documents, Cadena told investigators that he "was going to take the spaceship home for his child." Documents say an anonymous tipster witnessed the men loading the dilapidated spaceship ride into a red truck on Oct. 7.

Assistant District Attorney Scot Key said the former amusement park ride, worth $4,000 to $5,000, is believed to be from the `50s or `60s.
