Son arrested in fatal shooting of father, brother in Okla.
LAWTON, Okla. – Police have arrested five teens in connection with a Jan. 20 double homicide that left a father and son dead, reports CBS affiliate KAUZ.
Among those taken into custody is Thorsten Rushing, 18, son and brother to the victims.
Uwe Rushing, 49, and Stefan Rushing, 13, were found shot to death in their Lawton, Okla. home on Monday morning.
According to CNN, Thorsten Rushing told police that two black men entered the home and killed his brother and father before he chased them away with a shotgun. Later, he described the intruders as white and Hispanic. Police say parts of the story failed to match up with the crime scene.
“It didn’t make a whole lot of sense,” Capt. Craig Akard told CNN on Tuesday.
Two days before the shooting, police said Uwe Rushing was leaving the house and bumped into a masked man who quickly ran off, CNN reports.
Lawton officials are confident that they now have those responsible for the murders in custody.
19-year-olds Ethan Thompson and Cody Davis, 18-year-old Timothy Delahoy, and one juvenile have been arrested along with Rushing.
CNN reports that the five teens “were involved in the murders in various ways to include planning, assisting beforehand, assisting during or assisting afterward.” One of them was reportedly present with Thorsten Rushing at the time of the shooting. The suspects are awaiting formal charges.
