"So You Think You Can Dance" narrows field to 20

(CBS) The final 20 dancers who will compete for the title of "America's Favorite Dancer" were revealed Thursday night on "So You Think You Can Dance" and they include nine contemporary dancers, a tap dancer, a Broadway dancer, our hip-hop dancers, four jazz dancers and a ballroom dancer. The contemporary dancers making the cut were Californians Alexander Fost, 21, Miranda Maleski, 19, Ryan Ramirez, 19, Sasha Mallory, 23, and Ashley Rich, 22; Caitlynn Lawson, 18, of Washington, Mitchell Kelly, 20, of Georgia; Ricky Jaime, 18, of Florida; and Melanie Moore, 19, of New York.

All the jazz dancers are from California: Clarice Ordaz, 19, Jordan Casanova, 18, Marko Germar, 22, and Missy Morelli, 19. Hip-hop finalists are Texan Christopher Koehl, 21, Robert Taylor Jr., 30, and Wadi Jones, 24, of New York; and Utah street dancer Tadd Gadduang, 25.

Also making the cut were Wisconsin tapper Nick Young, 19; Jess Leprotto, 18, of New Jersey, a musical theater dancer; and ballroom dancer Iveta Lukosiute, 30 of New York.

As each group of finalists was announced, the dancers performed in choreographed routines. The Thursday show also included a choreographed piece featuring the 10 women finalists as geishas, another featuring the 10 men as "Mad Men" stars and a Tyce Diorio-created performance by all 20 finalists.

This show marks the end of the tryouts and the start of the serious competition. Next week, the 20 finalists will all dance and one man and one woman will be sent home.
