Snap Programs Like You Have Windows 7 with MaxTo
If you've seen Windows 7, you might have been enthralled by the ability to snap windows to the edges of the screen, allowing you to easily see documents side-by-side or copy and paste data between windows. A free utility called MaxTo lets you snap windows in specific regions of the desktop, sort of like Windows 7's Snap.
Compatible with both XP and Vista, MaxTo lets you create your own regions on the desktop and, when you maximize a window in that area, it snaps to that zone and gets no bigger. Once you figure out how you like to work -- Word on the left, Excel on the right, for example -- MaxTo is a productivity boon.
MaxTo is as easy to configure as Fences, a utility I told you about a few weeks ago, which lets you set up desktop zones into which you can corral your shortcuts and icons. But unlike Fences, MaxTo isn't just for aesthetics -- it enhances your workflow in a measurable way. This tool is essential.
