Sizzling Summer Makeup Tips

Summer is here, the heat is on, so what are the latest makeup trends to keep women looking their best and - just as importantly - keep it all from sliding off as they perspire?

For answers, "The Early Show" turned to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal, who occasionally does the makeup of such stars as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna, and who has her on beauty line, Mally Beauty.

Roncal says women should put a skin primer in their makeup bags for the hot summer months and take out pressed powders, because they don't do women any favors in summer. Skin primers, she says, will lock in moisturizer, which helps in summer, giving makeup something to sit on top of and keeping it out of pores.

She also pointed to three hot looks:

METALLICS

This isn't just a night look -- you can wear it toned-down during the day, too! Use it as an all-over lid shadow OR, if full metallic shadow is too much for you, use it as a liner. Metallics can certainly help brighten the eye, especially during the summer. It has a beautiful sparkle effect. Metallic is also big for nails -- just remember to keep nails short, so it looks clean and not overbearing.

Sweat-proofing tip: Unless you're using a waterproof formula, first apply an eye shadow base to keep color from running or creasing.

CITRUS

Keep it sheer. You certainly don't want to look like you have orange clown spots on your cheeks! Also, look for a product that has a shimmery finish. When we're talking citrus, we're talking about glow. The idea is to keep the skin fresh. Don't use too much foundation, but you can add a hint of self-tanner to give your skin some warmth. For lips, do it as a sheer gloss. No opaque lips!

Sweat-proofing tip: It goes without saying you should start your makeup routine with a primer to set your makeup and keep it long-lasting. If you're using a cream blush, you're going to want to set it with a powder blush in a matching shade.

GREENS AND BLUES

Apply it as a sheer wash on the lid. These shades are also great to add a pop of color to the inner-corner of the rims. It's a playful look, so have fun with it! Don't worry about whether you think it's going to look good on you. If you're attracted to the color, 99 percent of the time, it's going to look great.

Sweat-proofing tip: Use a waterproof formula! There are tons on the market now.
