Sinkhole swallows Fla. woman

(CBS) - A Plant City, Fla. woman is lucky to be alive after falling into a sink hole in her backyard.

Carla Chapman, 47, was picking spices in her garden when the ground beneath her opened up and she fell in.

Chapman managed to get a call out to her husband, who called police.

Officer William Thomas Osmanski of the Plant City Police Department responded. Osmanski says he heard Chapman screaming upon entering her house and followed her screams to the backyard. When he opened the sliding glass door, he looked left and saw Chapman's fingertips sticking out of the hole.

Chapman was hospitalized and is she is expected to be okay.

This isn't Chapman's first time dealing with sinkholes at her home and now, she says, she is convinced it's time to move.
