Simpson True To New Song's Lyrics
In her first live appearance since the whole weight gain controversy surfaced, Jessica Simpson performed her new single "Pray Out Loud" on The Early Show.
Simpson's people have been explicit about not wanting to focus on the controversy and as Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez found out, Simpson is not focusing on it. She looks and feels fantastic and was greeted in Nashville by fans who yelled how amazing she looks.
Rodriguez talked to Simpson after she sang her new song.
"Such a beautiful song did you write that song?" Rodriguez asked.
"I did. I co-wrote that song," Simpson said.
"When you're down, do you pray out loud?" Rodriguez asked.
"Absolutely," Simpson said. "I grew up with my father being a youth minister, so as a family we'd always pray out loud together."
"Last time when we spoke, you were in New York getting ready to launch this country turn, and you weren't exactly sure how it would go," Rodriguez recalled. "You have to be pleased with how much support you've gotten from the fans."
"Honestly, I am right where I am supposed to be and I am so very happy," Simpson said. "Right now, I'm out on tour with Rascal Flatts having a blast. We play Madison Square Garden tomorrow, and everybody is warm and welcoming and I get lots of hugs. I like that."
"I know. And you look so beautiful as always," Rodriguez said. "I'm always amazed -- I think I wear the highest heels … "
"I think I take the cake," Simpson said.
"She has me beat," Rodriguez said. "You look absolutely beautiful. Everything going OK for you? I know you have been through a lot lately."
"No. Everything is really great," Simpson said. "It's all about keeping the faith. That's why I pray out loud, as my single."
