Showboat To Allow Guests To Bring Dogs Into Hotel

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - One Atlantic City casino is going to the dogs.

The Showboat Casino Hotel is setting aside nine rooms as "dog-friendly" accommodations starting Feb. 24.

The casino will allow dog owners to bring their animals into the hotel and its lobby, but dogs will be banned from the casino floor, restaurants, bars and shops. Having a dog stay with you will cost an extra $40 per night.

There's a maximum of two dogs per room, and they can't weigh more than 50 pounds apiece.

They'll get doggie treats, water and food bowls, and a pet mat to lie down on. The casino has designated a special outdoor "relief area" for dogs.

Cats or other pets are not permitted in the hotel.
