Google offering option on its Chrome browser that will let people speak their search requests CBS/AP

(CBS/ZDNET/AP) - Tell me what you're looking for. That's the challenge Google is making to its users.

The online search leader is offering an option on its Chrome browser that will let people speak their search requests in English while sitting in front of their home or office computers.

But honestly, should people use this feature at work?

The answer is probably no. This would add a lot of useless noise and chatter to office spaces. Can you just imagine if Google's voice search actually doesn't recognize the term someone is saying (even though it is supposed to already know at least 230 billion words) and he or she has to practically scream it into the computer's microphone?

No, that would not be helpful. It would also just waste a lot of time that could have been avoided by typing a few words.

At home, you can do what you want as loud as you want. The voice search is already available on smartphones that run Google's Android software.

But at work, try to keep your search volume level to a minimum.

According to CNET, Google is rolling out the feature this week, so it will be available for some users sooner then others. And, for now, it is only available in U.S. English.
