Shelton, Lambert postpone shows after family death
(CBS) Blake Shelton and his wife Miranda Lambert have both postponed a series of concerts after the death of Shelton's father on Tuesday.
"I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time and thank you for all your prayers," Shelton explained in a message to his fans on his website. "Your support means the world to me. I love you guys."
Shelton's father, Dick, who was in declining health over the last year, was surrounded by loved ones in Oklahoma when he died, according to a statement.
As for Shelton, he's rescheduling this week's shows for March. After taking some time to mourn, Shelton will resume his "Well Lit & Amplified Tour 2012" in Columbus, Ga. on Jan. 26.
Lambert, too, is taking a break from the road, pushing back this weekend's concert dates in Kentucky and North Carolina to late February.
"Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers," she said in a statement. "This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together."
Lambert's "On Fire" tour is expected to continue as scheduled next week.
