Shayona Davis, second suspect in brutal St. Patrick's Day weekend beating caught on tape, arrested by Baltimore police
(CBS/WJZ/AP) BALTIMORE - Authorities say they have arrested a second suspect in the brutal beating of a tourist that was caught on tape St. Patrick's Day weekend.
CBS Baltimore reports that 20-year-old Shayona Davis is behind bars, charged with assault and armed robbery.
Last week another suspect, 20-year-old Aaron Parsons, turned himself into police custody in connection to the attack, after tipsters identified him to authorities. He is charged with robbery, assault and other offenses.
In the video, Parsons approaches a man behind him. A rowdy crowd gathers and it appears Parsons grabs something from the victim, who shoves his hand away. A few seconds later, Parsons hits the man. After the victim falls down, others kick and hit him, before stripping him of all his clothes as bystanders laugh.
"Miss Davis used her shoe, her high-heeled shoe, as a weapon during that attack," Anthony Guglielmi, Baltimore City Police spokesperson, reportedly said.
After police learned of the video, they connected it to a report from a 31-year-old man from Arlington, Va., on March 19. The then-unidentified victim told police that he had been at a club the night before but woke up with a black eye. He was also missing his watch, phone and car keys.
Detectives have also identified Deangelo Carter, 18, and Shatia Baldwin, 21, in the video and put warrants out for their arrests, reports CBS Baltimore.
Davis, who had a bail review earlier Monday, is being held on $750,000 bond while Parsons is being held on half a million dollars' bond, the station reports.
