Seven Busted In Tacoma Beatings

Seven young men and boys ranging in age from 11 to 19 have been arrested for committing a series of brutal beatings in Tacoma, CBS Affiliate KIRO reports.

Police said an eighth arrest is likely.

Police said the group assaulted nine men walking alone at night in the northwest part of the city in recent weeks.

One man—30-year-old Erik Toews—died last Friday of injuries suffered in a week-earlier attack.

The attacks spread fear through Tacoma's Stadium District and the Hilltop and Wright Park neighborhoods.

Residents criticized Tacoma police for not issuing warnings soon enough about the attacks.

Police defended themselves, saying they had not connected the attacks, which began in July.
