Send and Receive Faxes for Free with Drop.io

Remember Drop.io, the file-sharing service we've gushed about before? (The first gush was for offering audio recording by cell phone; the second, for enabling "drops" via e-mail.) Now you can use it to send and receive faxes.

A "drop" is your online file repository. For any Word document or PDF you've uploaded, just click send and then fax. Enter the recipient's fax number and presto: The document gets sent. (You're limited to documents of no more than 20 pages each.)

Receiving a fax is a bit more complicated: You have to e-mail a special cover sheet to the recipient, who must use it as the top sheet when sending your fax. The pages will arrive in your drop as a PDF, which you can then download, view, print, etc.

As with all other Drop.io services (so far), faxing is free. [via CyberNet]
