Send 5GB Files with File Dropper

file-dropper.jpgIf you need to send someone a big file, forget about e-mail: You need a big-file sharing service like Drop.io, YouSendIt, or Transfer Big Files. If you need to send someone a really big file, try File Dropper, which raises the file-size cap to a whopping 5GB.

Think about that: File Dropper lets you send someone a DVD's worth of data. (Actually, a single-layer DVD holds only 4.7GB.) As with the aforementioned services, the process is simple: Upload your file, then e-mail the supplied link to anyone you want (including yourself -- this is a great way to transfer big files from one computer to another).

Just one wrinkle: There's no upload-progress meter, so there's no way to know when your upload will be done. But I can live with that in exchange for the 5GB limit. Only Transfer Big Files comes anywhere close, and it tops out at 2GB. For sending really big files, look to File Dropper. [via Lifehacker]
