Secret Service Probed Math Teacher Who Used "Obama Assassination Example" To Teach Angles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (CBS/AP) Math teacher Gregory Harrison may have thought he knew all the angles, but that was before he was accused of using a hypothetical assassination plot on President Barack Obama in a geometry lesson.

Mr. Harrison + prez  assassination lesson = big trouble.

Thursday school board officials in Jefferson County, Ala. announced the punishment - suspended for 10 days without pay - for the Corner High School math teacher. Harrison will also undergo sensitivity training.

He released a statement through the Alabama Education Association apologizing for a "very serious error in judgment."

The teacher was investigated by the Secret Service after his unusual lesson came to light but was released without charges.

School officials say Harrison was teaching his students about angles when he used the example of shooting the President. Many called for his resignation after the incident.
